Volunteer Project: Kilimanjaro Kids Care

6 Aussie girls from Melbourne volunteered at Kilimanjaro Kids Care, in Himo, Tanzania. Kids Care houses 20 children, most of whom are single or double orphans, some coming from extremely sad backgrounds. They are all cared for by 3 super house moms who we called Bibi (for grandmother), Mama Makrina and the youngest, Flora. We helped the children with their reading, writing, and also tried to inspire them through creative means such as photography and art. And of course, not forgetting 'Treasure Chest' ... the children get to choose a present out of the treasure chest for every 5 books they've read and you can imagine how much they LOVED reading!

'Cameras for Kids' | Oaxaca | Mexico | 2008

In 2007, we offered the 'Cameras for Kids' photography project to 20 indigenous street children in Oaxaca.

It was an amazing experience to watch the children develop and grow in confidence as each day went by!

All the photographs in this gallery were taken by the kids of Oaxaca. Most of these kids have never used a camera in their lives!
